Dear Sir,

2032A Ludhiana Special Shatabdi

I understand that 2032A Ludhiana Special Shatabdi has been suspended. I request that this suspension be reconsidered.

The reasons for any lack of passenger traffic was the timing of the train, its inconsistency over the winter period (often anything between 30 and 90 minutes late and with booking problems in the early days), and the fact it took 1 hour longer than the existing Shatabdi services. Ludhianvis need the third Shatabdi to depart from Ludhiana at 09:30 daily, to reach Delhi by 13:30 with a return from Delhi departing at 14:30 pm reaching Ludhiana at 18:30pm.

In addition, the evening Amritsar Shatabdi 2013 from Delhi may be deferred by half an hour so that it departs delhi at 17:00 instead of 16:30. The timings of the existing two Shatabdi trains are not family friendly.

This third shatabdi should be started with vigour and given at least one year to prove its viability. There is definitely sufficient traffic from Ludhiana to justify it as a permanent service.

Yours faithfully

Jassi Khangura MLA
