DUBAI: Punjab is among nine states that would take part in a conference being organised by the Indian government at Abu Dhabi aimed at improving the delivery of services for welfare of Indians living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The day-long meet on September 13 is being jointly organised by the Indian embassy and the ministry of overseas Indian affairs. The meet will bring representatives of various state governments from India in direct interaction with the delegates of the Indian community in the UAE. The theme is ‘Working together: Improving Service Delivery’.
Besides Punjab, the participating states are Bihar, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Telangana and West Bengal. The UT territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has also confirmed participation, the embassy said here.
The primary objective is to improve delivery of services for expat Indians by working together with various organisations active in the UAE. The conference will afford an opportunity to the Indian community to interact directly with representatives of state governments and apprise them of the issues being faced by them in the UAE as well as back home in India.
