SYDNEY: In a major breakthrough, a team of doctors, including an Indian-origin surgeon, on Friday said they had successfully performed the world’s first heart transplant in Australia using a “dead heart”, a development that could save many lives.

The delegation from different religions in the UK lauded renowned environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal for inspiring people to work for others. The delegation was being led by Bhai Mohinder Singh, head of ‘Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha Birmingham (UK). Interacting with the gathering, Bhai Mohinder Singh said that in 2000, the UNO made Declaration of 21 Millenarian.

“Representation of 189 nations had signed the Declaration which was said to work on eight major problems of the world: To end poverty by 2015, to promote primary education, special care for mothers and children, conservation of environment, to spread awareness about AIDS and to motivate the youth to work for development,” he said.

He added that the nations have failed to achieve the goal of declaration after which the UNO was now making a policy to include different religions in the mission.

“Sant Seechewal has shown a path to the world by cleaning the holy river. This model could be implemented on other rivers too,” he added.

Bhai Mohinder Singh also maintained that on the 350th birthday of Guru Gobind Singh on July 5, 2017 as many as 5 crore people were expected to come at Patna Sahib.

“We will take Baba Seechewal’s service for karsewa to prepare for the occasion,” he maintained.

Earlier, the spiritual leaders planted a tree on the banks of holy Kali Bein. A documentary film on the karsewa of holy Bein was also shown to the UK delegates. Sant Seechewal honoured the delegates.

The UK delegation included Rt Rev Archbishop Bernard Longley, Rt Rev Bishop of Bham David, Andrew Urquhart, Dinesh Chauhan, Jayshri Chauhan Rabbi, Yosef Yitzchok, Jacobs Rabbi, Yosef Yitzchok Jacobs, Rachel Chana Jacobs, Yann Rufus Lovelock, Monica Lovelock, Martin William, Ledger Burton, Jean Marguerite Burton, Dr Rabbi, M Jaocbi and Jonathan Alan Gurling and others.
