Amritsar : Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has condemned the anti-Sikh comments over Sikh Gurdwara in Perth city of Australia on Wednesday. Some miscreants had painted the walls of newly built Sikh shrine in Bennett Springs near Beechboroin with anti-community words.

In a press statement, secretary, SGPC, Diljit Singh Bedi informed, “It was very unfortunate incident that took place in Australia and it hurt the sentiments of Sikh around the globe.” He said, “SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar took serious notice of the incident and demands the intervention of Central government in the matter immediately.”

Bedi told, “Makkar has contacted Australian embassy in India and even wrote a letter to Australian Ambassador to take action against the notorious elements who were involved in this racial attack.” Further, Bedi said, “SGPC has also appealed to Uunion External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to take necessary steps on this serious issue for the safety of Sikhs residing abroad.”

These days SGPC delegation led by its president is in the US for laying the foundation stone of International Sikh Centre in Yuba City of California. They would lay the foundation stone on October 31 and the main objective of the particular centre is to promote and develop Sikh religion in the world.

It is pertinent to mention here that it was not the first such attack over Sikh shrine on foreign land as there were many instances when Sikhs had faced racial attitude in abroad.
