Fatehgarh Sahib : Punjab government has finally transferred ‘controversial’ Fatehgarh Sahib SDM Pooja Syal Grewal. Navraj Singh Brar has taken over as the new SDM.

Congress leaders led by Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra had been staging a dharna for a long time to pressurise the state government to shift SDM Pooja Syal in a case of protocol violation but later discontinued dharna without assigning any reason. The state government also did not bothered about the demand of Nagra and other Congressman regarding the SDM’s transfer.

Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, who was former constituency in-charge of Fatehgarh Sahib, had supported the SDM following the MLA’s verbal spat with the SDM during a meeting of the Municipal Council, Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib, and declared that the SDM would not be transferred.

The Congress leaders at that time had alleged that the SDM did not follow the protocol during the meeting. On the other hand, the SDM had alleged that the MLA had used derogatory remarks against her. Following the controversy, PPCC president Amarinder Singh had also issued a statement against the SDM and the state government. The Punjab Assembly Speaker had also marked an inquiry to Patiala Division Commissioner in the case but the outcome of the inquiry was not made public.
