Cong leaders join Dalits’ protest, burn CM’s effigy

Moga : Congress leaders today joined the protest of Dalit residents who have been demanding restoration of drinking water supply to their locality in Moga.
General secretary of the Punjab Congress and chairman of the SC/ST wing of the party Raj Kumar Chabbewal, youth leader Sukhwinder Singh Danny, PCC secretary Harjot Kamal, local MC Manjit Mann and protesters burnt the effigy of CM Parkash Singh Badal. They alleged that the police had committed atrocities on them by implicating them in false cases.
Chabbewal interacted with the local people who told him that the water supply was snapped to their locality due to petty politics at the local level in the aftermath of the local body elections. On Saturday, five protesters were reportedly injured when the police cane-charged them.
