Faridkot : The court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge today summoned Akali Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Mantar Singh Brar and five police officials in an assault case.

On the complaint of Kotkapura resident Naresh Kumar, the police had registered a case under sections 323, 324 (both pertaining to voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC against Ravinder Kumar and Surinder Kumar of Kotkapura on December 30, 2010.

During the trial, Naresh alleged that the attack on him was plotted by the Kotkapura MLA (Brar) and certain police officers in Faridkot. The victim demanded that the legislator and the others be arraigned as accused in the case. Naresh alleged that since he was a complainant in a case against Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, the Akali MLA and the police officers had hatched a conspiracy against him. However, the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate had turned down his application.

Naresh then filed a revision petition, following which the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajwinder Kaur today summoned Brar and nine others, including five police officials, to appear before the court on August 30.
