Akali leader, 18 others booked firing incident

Barnala: Police has registered FIR against 19 persons on Wednesday relating to a fire incident that took place on Tuesday at village Chiniwala in which two persons got injured. Police has booked Akali leader and member of Zila Parishad Pritpal Singh, Jagshir Singh, Balwant Singh, Shamsher Singh, Mander Singh and 14 other persons under Sections 307, 148 and 149 of Indian Penal Code and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of Arms Act, said SHO Baljit Singh Dhillon.

Dhillon added five people have been taken into custody and raids are being conducted to nab others. Akali leaders reportedly fired at two persons over a land dispute. According to villagers, Pritpal tried to take the possession of disputed land following which co-owners Labha Singh and Sukhdev Singh got injured.
