During his mass contact campaign here, Congress MLA Sunil Jakhar on Friday found the Seva Kendra at Jandwala Hanvanta village locked. Villagers told him that no staff had been deployed at the centre so far. Jakhar accused Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal of making tall claims of good governance.“Even after the statewide inauguration held recently, most of these centres remain locked,” he said.

Two women found dead

Two women of Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh were found killed on Friday. In Munda village near Hanumangarh town, the body of Mamta (26) was found in a field. Her husband Shailender, a farm labourer, said she had yesterday left the house to apply mehndi to a woman at 9 pm but did not return. In another incident, Rupa Devi (28) was found dead in her house in Ravidas Nagar in Sriganganagar. Her husband Sriram is absconding.

Rape attempt accused held

The police on Friday nabbed two youths who were booked last week under Sections 363, 376 and 511 of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act by the Wahabwala police station for their alleged attempt to rape a minor girl. The accused have been identified as Nirmal Singh Nimma of Bahadurkhera village in Balluana segment and his friend Harjit Singh Babbu of the same village.
