Chandigarh : Assuring the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) of early completion of a new sugar mill at Batala, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday sought a detailed report from his Chief Principal Secretary on the proposed mill.

The Chief Minister had announced the government’s decision to set up the new cooperative sugar mill in Batala last week. Amarinder Singh has asked CPS Suresh Kumar to submit a detailed project report at the earliest to ensure that the project is taken forward without delay.

The Chief Minister issued the orders during a meeting with a four-member farmer delegation, which called on him to express their gratitude for the move. The delegation was led by BKU National President and the President of All Kisan Coordination Committee, ex-MP Bhupinder Singh Mann.

The new sugar mill would not only transform the lives of cane growers but also boost employment generation in the border areas, said Mann.
