CHANDIGARH: Former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday asked the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to be concerned about the welfare of the state rather than maintaining his time table. Taunting Sukhbir, he remarked, “You manufacture myths and invent facts to buy these yourself and cry hoarse only to cut a sorry figure at the end”.
Reacting to Sukhbir’s statement about his Sunday morning meeting with people at Amritsar, Capt Amarinder retorted, “I feel good that you are so much concerned about what I do and what I don’t and what time I get up and what time I come out and that is why I am telling you that you are not fit for the job because Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers are supposed to do better things than be obsessive time keepers of their political opponents”.
He remarked, “If the states’ defacto Chief Minister is so much obsessed with my time table and it remains his top most priority one can well understand why Punjab is sliding towards financial and administrative anarchy”. About his meeting with morning walkers, the former Chief Minister asked Sukhbir to check his facts. “You better check your facts as I never said I had gone for a morning walk but meeting people”, he asserted, while adding, “Yes, I had gone to meet people there in the Company Bagh and if you have problem with my getting properly dressed I really can’t help it because I can’t toss my turban like your father to be seen as a helpless and tired man always pretending to be toiling around”. “And don’t be bothered about by inaccessibility leave that to my workers and people of Amritsar as I think they are better judges”, he told Sukhbir., while adding, “If you have any doubts ask Jaitley, who had the first-hand experience on Sunday morning”.
