Khaira accuses Badals of lying in election affidavits

BATHINDA: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) spokesperson Sukhpal Singh Khaira has charged the Badal family with hiding information about their property in the affidavits produced with the Election Commission (EC) while filling nomination papers of Bathinda candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
Khaira alleged that the ownership of a private company Taj Travels has been shifted to one of the frontmen of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) Lakhvir Singh Lakhi and it will be retained after the elections in the name of Sukhbir Singh Badal.
“Taj Travels is owned by one of the frontmen Barnala-based Lakhvir Singh Lakhi. This company not only runs luxury buses but also owns a farm house of Badals in Balasar, agricultural and commercial land village Badal, districts Bathinda and Mohali,” alleged Khaira.
He said, “At the moment, 98.34% share holder of Taj Travels is Lakhvir Singh Lakhi. However, everyone knows that Taj Travel is a company of Badals. This only shows how Badals manipulated the affidavits.”
“I challenge, if Sukhbir can claim that MacDonald, Best Price and KFC opened in Bathinda are not owned by him. This is all part of Taj Travel Company,” said Khaira.
He said, “Sukhbir Singh Badal has already applied for the transfers of shares from the names of Lakhvir Lakhi to his name by paying 10 lakh and transfer will take place after the elections will be over. Then Sukhbir will become formal owner of the firm.”
He said that the affidavits produced with the Election Commission are just an eye wash. “It is not 108 crore. mentioned in affidavits but actually they are owners of over 10,000 crore. They are fooling people and the EC,” said Khaira.
He said, “Trident and Oberoi hotel in Gurgaon over more than 25 acre land, is worth not less than 5 to 7,000 crore. The same is not mentioned in the affidavits.” “She said in affidavits that she is a business employee and politician with 3 crore salary annually. How many people are there in Punjab with such a salary,” said Khaira.
“New Mullanpur is nothing but to facilitate their upcoming seven star hotel under the banner of Metro Eco Greens private limited. They have been making six-lane road for the hotel which was actually required on the road entering Chandigarh from Kharar side or Patiala-Zirakpur side.” He said that SAD Mansa in-charge is one Anmol Singh, who is just a police constable. This constable is sending tour programe of Sukhbir Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal to the press and he claims to be PA of Harsimrat.
