Bajwa wants better deal for paramilitary

Chandigarh : The Punjab Congress president, Partap Singh Bajwa, has demanded that the “one rank, one pension” scheme should also include those retiring from the para-military forces.

Welcoming the allocation of Rs 1,000 crore under the scheme for ex-servicemen, he said it was good that the NDA government had implemented the decision taken by the UPA government earlier. He said that the allocation should be hiked to Rs 3,000 crore.

“It’s the para-military forces that have to deal with internal strife, be it fighting the Maoists in central India, the ultras in the North-East or those in Jammu and Kashmir.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
