Bathinda : Congress activists, led by party’s Kisan and Khet Mazdoor Cell head Inderjit Singh Zira, who were detained by Muktsar Police on Monday for violating Section 144 of the CrPC imposed by the district magistrate by lodging protest outside the CM residence at Badal village were released on Tuesday.
They were protesting against the problems farmers facing in mandis while selling their grains.
A large number of Congress activists had got the bail last midnight by furnishing their bail bonds in the respective police stations, yet Zira along with 46 others had declined producing bail bonds asserting that they would prefer to go jail than opting for the offer.
However, after some deliberation with the police, 47 remaining activists were released after signing the bonds.
