In a statement issued here on Thursday, Bhag Singh said the reports about the involvement of Congress leaders in illegal mining and charging of goonda tax had appeared in a section of the media.
He said the Congress had been criticising the state gover nment, especially the Shiromani Akali Dal leaders, for illegal mining, but the allegations against Congress leaders were a matter of grave concern for the party.
He urged the Congress high command to conduct an inquiry into the allegations and take necessary action against the leaders found involved.
