Akali leaders unaware of state’s issues: Mann

SANGRUR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Bhagwant Mann, on Thursday, accused leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal of turning a blind eye to the burning issues of the state.

“The Akali MPs do not have any issues to raise in Parliament as they don’t have any information about the problems being faced by the common man, because they don’t sit with the people,” said Bhagwant Mann, while addressing a gathering after adopting Benra village of Dhuri segment under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.

“Though, I have adopted Benra village under the yojana, but development will be taken up in all villages of Sangrur and Bar nala districts,” he added.

He accused the Badals of making Punjab a biggest consumer of alcohol in the country, saying, “there was a time when Punjab was ahead of several states in development, but now Punjab is ahead in the consumption of liquor only”

“Punjab is also lagging behind Haryana where the old age pension is ` 1,200, petrol is cheaper by about ` 6 per litre and sportspersons of Haryana have won several medals in inter national g ames,” he added.

Bhagwant Mann also assured the people of Benra village of ensuring all basic facilities such as sewerage, safe drinking water, streetlights, cleaning of village ponds, etc.
