CHANDIGARH: Gurdaspur MP Vinod Khanna has denied allegations levelled in an election petition seeking his disqualification on the grounds of issuing advertisements on television channels seeking votes in the name of religion and not declaring the exact amount spent in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

In his affidavit filed before the Punjab and Haryana high court, the BJP MP has said that the petition is vague and should be dismissed. Khanna denied that he used Sikh religious symbols or the national flag for securing votes, saying he also did not issue such advertisements on TV, as alleged by the petitioner.

He has also denied charges of spending more than the prescribed limit and submitted that the expenditure shown by him on PM Narendra Modi’s rally in his affidavit was correct and was not Rs 20 lakh as alleged.
