LUDHIANA: With BJP retracting from its decision to support the ‘no-confidence motion’ and demand resignation of revenue minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia by choosing to support its ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) again, Aam Aadmi Party’s senior member HS Phoolka lashed out at the party for adopting double standards on the matter.

Phoolka said on the one hand, the BJP leaders were publicly saying that Majithia should resign, on the other hand, they were supporting their ally in the state assembly. “This just goes to prove that their public stance is eyewash aimed at misleading people of the state. We reiterate our accusation that the BJP is as much a beneficiary of the ill-gotten wealth as the SAD,” he added.

He said the SAD and BJP combine should stop fooling people and Majithia should step down immediately. “AAP demands a free, fair and impartial probe into the matter by agencies from outside the state, so that facts can come to light and the wrongdoing of all those involved in this sordid affair can be exposed,” he said.

“The people have the right to know who is responsible for ruining a whole generation of Punjabis. If the PM is truly serious about following a zero tolerance policy towards drugs, then he and his party should immediately sever all ties with SAD. By making statements, they cannot continue to fool the people,” Phoolka added.
