Cong will take Union govt to task on farmers’ issue: Bittu

Ludhiana : Congress Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu warned the union government that Congress party will take the government to task against the anti-farmers policy of government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a statement issued on Friday MP R S Bittu said the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) led government is against the farmers and the policies of government if ruining the agriculture of Punjab and other states.

“If the government will not take their anti-farmers policies the Congress party will ‘gherao’ the government in the upcoming session of Lok Sabha on the farmers issue” said Bittu.

Bittu said that the attacks on farmers’ in Gujarat and acquiring of Punjab farmers land is clear cut example of anti- government politics. After the formation of BJP government in Center the government is against the farmers, added Bittu.

The government is benefiting the traders instead of helping farmers in buying their crops from market. The farmers have to run from pillar to post to get money for their own crops from government, said Bittu.

In his statement Bittu also hit out at government on the issue of shortage and black marketing of urea and held the government responsible for the shortage. Warning the Center government Bittu said that the Congress party will not tolerate the anti-farmers policy and will take the government to task in the upcoming session of Parliament and will also fight against government by staging protest and demonstrations.
