Chandigarh : Senior Congress leader Rajeev Shukla today said that there were no differences between top state leaders Amarinder Singh and Partap Singh Bajwa. He further said the party was the only one that could take on the Akali-BJP government in the 2017 Assembly elections.

“There is no factionalism in state Congress...but differences of opinion between certain leaders could be there. We are a democratic party and each member is allowed to air his views. But it is wrong to suggest that there is “infighting” in the party,” he said, when asked about the rift between PPCC chief Partap Bajwa and former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

Shukla said that the Congress would contest the 2017 Assembly polls under collective leadership and oust the ruling SAD-BJP alliance government from the state.

Bajwa said there was no rift between him and Amarinder. “Capt is senior to me...he is my elder brother. I have worked as a minister in his government. I don’t mind walking an extra mile to meet him and request him to put up a united fight against Badals-Kairons-Majithias, and make Punjab a drug-free state,” he said.
