Badal family holds shares in Orbit Aviation, Dabwali Transport

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has told the Punjab and Haryana high court that deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal holds shares in Dabwali Transport Company, Orbit Aviation and Taj Travels.

His wife, Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, has shares in Dabwali Transport Company but not in Orbit Aviation Limited.

The affidavit filed by Ashwani Kumar, the state transport commissioner, said Sukhbir held the majority of the shares (4.36 lakh) in Dabwali Transport Company (64 buses), whereas his wife held 10 shares.

Mohd Jameel and Mohd Rafiq also hold shares in Dabwali Transport Company, which is a shareholder in Orbit Aviation (62 buses) also.

In the case of Taj Travels, the majority of the shares (30,000) are held by one Lakhvir Singh, while Dabwali Transport Company holds 840 shares. The Badal family has shares in the company through Dabwali Transport Company.

In the case of Orbit Aviation Limited, Sukhbir, Orbit Resort Pvt Ltd and G Next Media Pvt Ltd are listed as shareholders. But it has not been mentioned as to who are the shareholders in the latter two companies.

A total of 54 transport companies have been listed in the affidavit, of which details of 44 have been given.
