Amritsar : It was after a long time that both former Chief Minister and local MP Captain Amarinder Singh and Partap Singh Bajwa, president, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) on Thursday looked into each other’s eyes. Captain called upon Bajwa at his residence in Qadian in Gurdaspur to offer his condolences for Bajwa’s mother Gurbachan Kaur Bajwa who passed away on June 25. Captain shared his personal grief with the family members and both the leaders talked in detail about the contribution of Bajwa’s family to the party and the state politics. Captain remained closted for more than an hour and shared tea and snacks too while Bajwa family surrounded him throughout as he expressed his sympathies with the family.

Bajwa’s mother was unwell for quite a long time and breathed her last week. Many of the leaders from Congress and even from the rival parties including the ruling SAD (B) and the BJP had visited Bajwa but Captain had not paid the customary visit in the hour of tragedy at Bajwa family. Understandably, though nothing political transpired during the meeting which was purely personal, as the both leaders are daggers drawn and had been publicly denouncing each other, the visit is seen as significant.
