Patiala : Hitting out at Badal government, former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s remark that the present regime had prepared a comprehensive blueprint for facelift of rural Punjab at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore is merely daydreaming.
In a statement issued on Thursday, she said that SAD-BJP combine government led by Parkash Singh Badal which has been ruling the State since 2007 seems to have failed to usher any worthwhile development especially in the rural areas. She said that what to talk of initiating facelift of the rural areas still most of the villages in the State lacked basic amenities like access to clean drinking water, quality roads linking towns, poor condition of schools, lacking civic amenities and so on despite Badal government getting ample funds from the Central grants for various developmental schemes in the rural areas.
She accused the Badal government of diverting funds of various schemes to other purposes reflecting poor financial management of funds in the State. Bhattal said that SAD-BJP combine government was responsible for the pathetic financial condition of the State adding it has destroyed the economic fabric of the State. She said that financial condition of the State was at its lowest ebb. Asserting that the State has been continuously facing fiscal crisis due to which it is resorting to borrowed funds for even running day-to-day administration, she added.
