CHANDIGARH: Accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of “playing a dangerous game of fuelling unrest” in Punjab, state Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday said the party was distributing pamphlets calling for an inquilab (revolution).

“If they want to come to Punjab, they should come as a democratic party and not as anarchists crying ‘inquilab’. They are trying to mislead our youth for petty political ends and Punjab cannot afford another era of violence and bloodshed,” he said while addressing the media here after inducting former Akali leaders Deepinder Dhillon and Harry Mann into the Congress.

Amarinder alle ged that Arvind Kejriwal’s party was circulating anonymous pamphlets calling for a “revolution” and targeting leaders of mainstream parties. “Their pamphlets are attacking Congress and Akali leaders. The AAP is encouraging Naxals, radicals and separatists to further its agenda,” he said.

AAP leader Himmat Singh Shergill hit back at Amarinder, saying that ‘inquilab’ was a slogan given by Shaheed Bhagat Singh and they were calling for a revolution to free Punjab of Akalis and Congress. “We are distributing four-page pamphlets with picture and message of our leader Arvind Kejriwal. It talks of Punjab’s issues and calls for a change. We are not linked to any anonymous pamphlets. Jittery of AAP, Amarinder is now resorting to blatant lies,” Shergill said.
