Chandigarh : Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Balkar Singh Sidhu on Tuesday joined the Congress unconditionally in the presence of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Captain Amarinder Singh, who welcomed him, stating that people love and respect him for his talent. “He is a well known figure in Punjab, especially in the Malwa region. He will prove to be a great asset for our party,” said Captain. Sidhu, on his part, said that he had joined the Congress party ‘unconditionally.’ “I am confident that under the leadership of party’s national president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and the state president Capt Amarinder Singh, we will form the next government in Punjab,” he said.

Sidhu had been expelled from the AAP in August 2014 for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities. He had later filed nomination as an Independent following cancellation of his ticket as AAP candidate. The AAP had first decided to field Sidhu from Talwandi Sabo for the bypolls in August 2014, but replaced him with Baljinder Kaur after several allegations were levelled against the singer. The seat was won by the ruling SAD then. Talking to media persons, Sidhu said: “At the time of bypolls various false charges had been levelled against me, but the AAP failed to prove any charge later on. Now, I will seek a reply from them by filing a case in the court for defaming me.”

punjab needs peace and not anarchy: captain
CHANDIGARH: Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday warned the AAP against resorting to disruptive and destabilising tactics for short term political gains, saying Punjab needs peace and not anarchy, to progress and prosper, which the AAP was propagating.

Talking to reporters after inducting reputed singer and AAP leader Balkar Sidhu into the party, he also asked the party to come clean about the posters circulated by it, carrying pictures of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale, Arvind Kejriwal, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Sanjay Singh and Bhagwant Mann, asking people to celebrate Bhindrawale’s birth anniversary on February 12, by paying obeisance at the nearest gurdwaras. Asserting that the AAP was waging a rebellion, he said that on the one hand they were invoking people for ‘revolution’ and on the other hand they were asking people to celebrate Bhindrawale’s birth anniversary. He said that there was a clear link between the two. “The AAP seems to be going beyond even Simranjit Singh Mann’s Khalistan agenda,” he observed, while remarking, “they are trying to wage a rebellion.”

THANKS BARACK OBAMA
PCC president thanked the US President Barrack Obama for inducting a Sikh as top official in his government so that it gets clarified that the Sikhs are not Arabs. “If Obama can feel for the Sikhs, I am surprised why SGPC cannot,” he asked.
