Capt promises to scrap contract jobs

FARIDKOT: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday promised that his party’s government would scrap the contractual system of appointments in jobs and bring in a law for a guaranteed minimum salary.

The former chief minister was interacting with the youths during a two-hour interaction session organised by Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon, former Faridkot MLA and general secretary of the Congress here.

Agreeing to a question on low salaries and contractual jobs, Captain said that whosoever was appointed in government service must get the appointment and all the benefits from day one. “There is no point in keeping people waiting for regularisation for years,” he said.

Some youths demanded reservation on the basis of economic condition for general categories and reduction of heavy fees in educational institutions. They also pointed out many technical colleges is the stare were running without adequate infrastructure.

On the Bargadi sacrilege incidents, he reiterated his charge against chief minister Parkash Sing Badal saying that the desecration had been done at his behest and said his government would get the matter inquired by a judge and punish the guilty.

Captain also promised to eliminate the drug menace in the state as announced by him in Bathinda during his swearingin ceremony.
