KHADOOR SAHIB: There seems to be no end to the rift between the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Tarn Taran district, as the BJP leaders are firm on their stand to oppose SAD candidate Ravinder Singh Brahmpura in the Khadoor Sahib bypoll slated to be held on February 13.

Ever since the SAD started its poll campaign in the constituency, no BJP leaders have joined the campaign of its alliance partner.

Meanwhile, led by district president Navreet Singh Shafipur, the BJP leaders of Khadoor Sahib assembly segment met a few days ago and decided to mobilise the voters against the SAD candidate. “BJP’s workers are doing their job to expose the wrongdoings of the SAD leaders before the people,” said Shafipur to HT.

The local BJP leaders have been furious over ‘justice not been delivered’ to them in the Raja Joshi assault case. They accuse the SAD leadership of shielding its workers in the case.

It must be mentioned that Raja Joshi, district vice-president and younger brother of Punjab local bodies minister Anil Joshi, was allegedly attacked by the SAD workers ‘backed’ by Tarn Taran MLA Harmeet Sandhu during the local municipal council elections on February 11, 2015.
