CONG TO GUV: LAW AND ORDER HAS COLLAPSED IN STATE

CHANDIGARH: The Congress on Tuesday alleged that law and order situation in Punjab had collapsed and there was an atmosphere of fear and insecurity prevailing all over the state.
A Congress delegation led by party’s state vice-president and spokesperson Sunil Jakhar met governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and submitted a memorandum to him. Jakhar alleged there as spurt in crime rate in the state with continuous killings and gang wars becoming order of the day. The delegation members also urged the governor to take stringent steps to control the situation.
After meeting Solanki, Jakhar told the media that the governor expressed concern over the law and order situation in state. He said the governor directed his staff to seek a detailed report from the Punjab director general of police.
Jakhar said the Governor assured that he would discuss the prevailing law and order situation with the chief minister.
Congress MLAs Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sangat Singh Giljia, Joginder Singh, Sukhbinder Singh Sukhsarkaria, Aruna Chaudhary, Karan Kaur Brar, Surinder Dawar, Amrik Singh, Tarlochan Singh and Gurcharan Singh Boparai accompanied Jakhar to the governor.
