Gurdaspur: It is shocking that the crime scene in Punjab does not prick the conscience of the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, also the Home Minister, if one goes by his claims of improvement in situation, citing national crime bureau figures, which do not reflect the reality. This was stated by leader of Congress Legislature Party Charanjit Singh Channi.
Reacting sharply to what he described as the absurd and bizarre claims made by the Deputy Chief Minister by citing comparative figures, Channi while addressing a large gathering at Gurdaspur on Wednesday asked him as to how would he explain the murderous attack on Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala in which his associate was killed.
He was participating in an official function of Ashok Chaudhary, newly appointed DCC president, Gurdaspur. He said what was all the more shocking was the fact that a prominent person with whom the assailants were associated had warned of retaliation in case his organization was criticized. Channi said Mata Chand Kaur of the Namdhari sect was killed at Bhaini Sahib in a broad daylight attack and the assailant was still to be arrested. Yet, Punjab was among the most peaceful state. He also referred to the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in which the investigation had made no progress.
He said while the situation in the state was deteriorating every day, the Parkash Singh Badal government and the Shiromani Akali Dal had now decided to celebrate 50 anniversary of Punjabi “Suba”.
