Fazilka: Expressing concern over the issue of water for thousands of farmers of Abohar and Fazilka, state Congress vice president and Abohar, MLA, Sunil Jakhar on Monday started a dharna at Canal Colony, to make the state government hear the voice of farmers of the area.
On first day of the protest, hundreds of farmers took part in dharna and raised their voice against state government for not protecting their waters rights. Slamming Punjab government, Sunil Jakhar reminded about the census of 1970, in which majority of people of Abohar and Fazilka decided to stay with Punjab instead of Haryana. “But now Badal government has been showing step-motherly treatment to the people of area”, added Jakhar.
He also blamed chief minister for ignoring problems of farmers and stated that it seemed five-time elected CM was giving an impression that he only became CM to look after his own constituency.
