MANDI GOBINDGARH/SIRHIND: The state government has sabotaged industries and farming by applying all kinds of taxes and by raising electricity rates and now they have adopted the ‘scorched earth policy’, said Manpreet Singh Badal at a meeting with industrialists at Gobindgarh.

“The government has taken loans on the incomes of various boards which will dissolve after the application of goods and services tax and the liability will directly come on the state,” he added.

Former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhathal, MLA Randeep Singh Nabha and member of the Congress manifesto team Manmohan Singh held a dialogue with industrialists.

Nabha said the Congress had always supported industrialists and the party will bring down the electricity rates after forming the government in Punjab.

The industrialists also questioned the role of the Congress as Opposition, and the credibility of the manifesto.

“Parties come, talk and make manifestos but do not implement them,” said industrialist Rajan Garg. They also demanded to have their representative in the cabinet.

About a dozen unions and associations including depot holders, anganwadi wokers, truck body builders, aided schools association and others gave memorandums to the party manifesto committee in Sirhind.
