Jalandhar : A strong ticket contender from Jalandhar West (reserve) urban constituency, Congress councilor, Sushil Rinku got a shot in arm on Wednesday, when Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh stopped for a short while to attend a protest lodged by him against scrapping of Jalandhar-Kapurthala four laning project.
Rinku is being seen as a strong contender against former Jalandhar MP and ex MLA from this seat, Mohinder Singh Kapyee. Though sources maintained that Kaypee has not applied for a ticket this time but former Jalandhar, Mayor, Surinder Mahey and two other former councillors are in the race from Jalandhar West seat.
Congress councilor accompanied by party leaders and workers staged a protest against ruling SAD-BJP alliance for scrapping Jalandhar-Kapurthala four laning project.
Talking to Daily Post, Sushil Rinku said that he learnt about Capt Amarinder’s visit to Tarn Taran on Wednesday. “We had already planned a protest against scrapping of Jalandhar- Kapurthala road project along with shopkeepers.”
