Poland keen on food processing units - Badal extends invitation to Polish agro experts, farmers to participate in agriculture summit

Chandigarh : Polish Ambassador Prof Piotr Kodkovsky called on Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at his official residence here late on Wednesday evening and evinced keen interest to initiate agro-sector activities of bilateral benefits with Punjab.

The Ambassador, who was accompanied by his official team and senior officers of CII, offered to work with the state government in the sectors of horticulture, food processing and trade.

He mentioned that Poland had 60-year-old cordial relations with India and was now looking forward to further strengthen ties.

Appreciating the efforts of the state government to boost industrialisation in the state, particularly after organising a successful Investors Summit recently, the Polish envoy offered to explore the possibilities to initiate new ventures of mutual interest and benefit.

The Chief Minister desired serious and meaningful cooperation with Poland to mutually explore the potential in agriculture and agro-processing sectors.

Badal apprised the Polish Ambassador that Punjab’s economy was predominantly agrarian like Poland and the state government was organising an international-level Agricultural Summit next month with an aim to find out ways and means to further boost its agrarian economy through forging alliances, and seeking joint ventures in agro-sector besides opting for new vistas in allied farming and agro-forestry.

The Chief Minister also extended an invitation to the envoy to send his team of experts and farmers to participate in this summit. CM’s Principal Secretary S K Sandhu and Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Karan Avtar Singh were present on the occasion.
