NRIs dedicate Lohri celebration to girl child

NRIs are trying to make a difference with a special Lohri celebration, dedicated to all daughters. Last week, on January 22, at Mantra Restaurant, Corona, California,Mr. Vikrant Arora and his wife Harvinder Kaur Arora of Los Angeles, celebrated to mark the birth of a girl child Archi Arora, (Lohri Beti Ke Naam). More than 250 NRIs participated in the celebration.
Grand father/mother- Mr. Harsh Arora/ Susheel Arora; Nana/Nani- Harvinder singh /Jaswinder kaur; Uncle and aunty- Jatinder lal/Satinder lal, Sanjeev kumar/ravinder kaur , Gurbrinderpal singh/brinder kaur, sister Amber lal,reet, samreet ,hargun, bhavi celebrated this event in colorful dresses and served as an example for others to follow.Mr. Vikrant arora, manager of well known transport company- Wraich brothers said, “ He is obligated and a special thanks to Wraich brothers, ubbu ,uppal,dhindsa, , balaji kapur family , gary and all kaiser permanente staff who was there and bank of america make lohri festival wonder ful thanx of rest of people who present at lohri party to make reaaly special for 1st lohri of my daughter now time is change b coz in old time we celeberate lohri for boys but now girls rule in every field they prove better than boys”
The awareness about menace of female foeticide has led to celebration of “Girl child Lohri”
Lohri is celebrated in the northern sates of Punjab & Haryana to mark the end of the winter & the beginning of a new agricultural season. We never understand that why people celebrate Lohri to mark the birth of a boy child.
We all aware that skewed sex ratio:
* ·In Punjab, the male-female ratio is 1000:857
* In Haryana, the male-female ratio is 1000:824 ---This has resulted in the nefarious practice of trafficking of brides from far-off states like Orissa, West Bengal and Jharkhand. It is estimates that at least 50,000 trafficked brides already in Haryana. Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia said every effort must be made to contain the adverse sex ratio in the state.
* PM Manmohan Singh said: no nation, society or community could hold its head high and claim to be part of a civilized world if it condoned the practice of discriminating against women.
* According to the National Commission for Women (NCW)- Declining sex ratio and desertion of women by their (NRI) husbands have emerged as two of the most serious gender issues in the northern Indian state of Punjab,
THE PNDT (Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques ) Act, 1994 which came into force on January 1, 1996, was enacted primarily to check sex-selective feticide. Initially, the Central government and most State governments hardly took any steps to implement the provisions of the Act.
A few prosecutions had been launched in West Bengal, Bihar, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu and Haryana. In Punjab, some action has been initiated in the last few months. In most of the identified instances, cases against erring ultrasound centers in the State are yet to be registered
Very rare, the doctors or ultrasonologists involved seemed to have been caught, while it appears that most of the action had been initiated against the women, thus exposing into focus the phenomenon of "victimizing the victim".
Unless we do not understand that female child is also great gift of Nature, with all the faculties of male, the rate female sex go down in an epidemic manner if killing of female fetus and female infant continues and males will dominate female in promiscuously in all respect.
Under THE PNDT (Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques ) Act, 1994, you can be easily arrested because you are NRIs.
* Sex determination is illegal under the PNDT Act in India, you can be easily arrested because you are NRIs.
* Boy or Girl? Munda-ya-kudi ? In another, a clinic in the US has given out a toll-free number for couples to take tests, giving them the option of abortion if the child expected is a girl.
* NRIs approaching Punjab-based ultrasound clinics for conducting sex-determination tests is that in faraway Surrey (BC), Brampton (Ontario) Canada — where a majority of the Punjabi immigrants live
* Most of the gynecologist doctors in Punjab are often approached by visiting NRI couples for sex-determination tests.
