Kapurthala: One more Punjabi NRI was reportedly shot in Zamboanga in the Philippines by two unidentified assailants.
Sukhjinder Singh Sukha, a resident of Sidhwan Dona village in Kapurthala sub division, was shot when he was on his way to home. When he reached near his house, two miscreants who were waiting for him, started firing on him. Narinder Singh Laddi, a youth from his native village, took him to hospital but doctors declared him brought dead. Sukhjinder is survived by his father, mother, a younger sister and a younger brother.
Sukhjinder (28) had moved to the Philippines six years ago to fulfill his family’s dream of earning big money abroad. His father, a small-time tailor, had taken loan to send him to the Philippines.
Several NRIs, mostly from Punjab, have been shot in the Philippines in last few years. Most of the killed persons were financiers.
Sukhjinder is one of half-a-dozen migrants from Sidhwan Dona, who have been killed in Philippines in the last four-five years, said Sukhdev Singh, an inhabitant of the village.
