NRI Commission comes to rescue of Denmark’s NRI

Chandigarh : The NRI Commission of Punjab has ordered the Deputy Commissioner and SSP of Gurdaspur to take prompt action to hand over the possession of rightful property to a Denmark-based NRI Sarjit Singh Ahluwalia.
They have also been asked to submit the report to the Commission regarding action taken to fix the responsibility of the erring officials by September 23.
Sarjit Singh Ahluwalia (78), a physically challenged and citizen of Denmark had filed a complaint before the Commission, alleging that he was the owner of land measuring 18 kanal 6 marla situated in Purana Chaawla village of Gurdaspur.
He had submitted that one Gurnam Singh, taking the advantage of his (complainant’s) absence, on the basis of forged and fabricated power of attorney executed sale deed of the said land in favour of Balkar Singh, Jaspal Singh, Paramjit Singh, Chamkur Singh and Daulat Singh.
The complainant said that earlier he had filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur and the inquiry had confirmed forgery, following which the revenue entries of the said land were reversed in his name. The inquiry findings were confirmed by the Divisional Commissioner, Jalandhar, using the judicial power of Financial Commissioner, Punjab in hiss order on January 1, 2013, he claimed.
However, the said persons, taking the advantage of said revenue entries based on the alleged illegal sale deed, dispossessed him from his land forcefully and illegally.
In his complaint, the NRI has demanded police assistance or protection to preclude any personal injury to him and the revenue official and to maintain peace and his personal safety to effect the possession of his rightful property.
