UK firm keen on knee implant unit in state

CHANDIGARH: A United Kingdombased healthcare provider has shown interest to set up a knee implant manufacturing unit and a knee transplantation facility at the upcoming Medicity in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh).

Punjab industries and commerce minister Madan Mohan Mittal met a delegation of the healthcare industry from the UK.

Stating this, an official spokesperson said the delegation members expressed interest in setting up a knee implant centre where artificial knees would be manufactured while the patients would be operated upon at Medicity.

The delegation apprised the minister of the requirement of 250-acre land.

The minister assured them of considering their demand and stressed upon an exchange between Punjab and UK in the healthcare sector so that both sides could benefit from each other’s expertise.

Howard Lyons, managing director, Healthcare UK, Richard Miller was among those who met the minister.
