CHANDIGARH: Punjab NRI affairs minister Jathedar Tota Singh on Monday said the state would soon have more special courts for NRIs as the special court established in Jalandhar had proved beneficial for NRIs.
Stating this on Monday, the minister said the Punjab government was contemplating to establish more special courts for NRIs, to be set up in various districts of the state. He said the state was fully committed to resolving issues pertaining to the Punjabi diaspora by taking such steps.
He said deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal was reviewing the status of welfare initiatives being taken for the diaspora.
The minister said Punjab was contemplating to bring amendments in the land records manual and land revenue act to simplify the procedure of partition of land. He said the issue of NRIs as proclaimed offenders in various offences would also be taken with the deputy CM so that needful steps could be initiated.
