JALANDHAR: In the case of mysterious disappearance of UK hotelier Ranjit Singh Powar (55), a team of city police on Saturday carried search in some flats at Ravinder Nagar near Urban Estate-II and collected closedcircuit television (CCTV) footage of last 20 days.

The police checked three flats, including the one that allegedly belongs to Baldev Singh Deol who has been booked on kidnapping charges in this case.

The team comprised the additional commissioner of police (ACP) Model Town, BIS Kahlon, station house officer (SHO) Balwinder Singh Virk among others. They arrived early in the morning and talked to security guards and flat owners.

The team also quizzed security guards working inside the apartments about Deol. The police, however, refused to divulge details of the case.

The city police have been facing pressure from the authorities and the UK embassy to trace the missing hotelier, but to no avail.

In the FIR registered against Deol on May 18, Ranjit’s brother Amrik Singh Powar said that his brother had come to Punjab for a business deal with Deol.

He also said he was to return to Wolverhampton on May 14 but did not. Armik claimed that Deol had returned to Wolverhampton on May 15.

“Deol told me that he had received my brother at the airport but he insisted on going to Chandigarh,” Amrik said.

Powar, who owns the fourstar Ramada Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton, last spoke to his wife Angela Bir on May 7 when he landed in India.
