LUDHIANA: City residents hailed the victory of two Sikh leaders from Ludhiana, who have been elected as MPs in the 42nd federal elections held recently in Canada.
“Sukh Dhaliwal and Raj Grewal of Sujapur and Sarabha villages respectively are making us proud. It is a great news that the majority of the candidates are of Punjab. It is a clear sign that Punjabis are shinning across the world and they have no doubt left Punjabis proud across the world. Their victory has become a topic of discussion in every organisation, home and even educational institutions, said a group of professors from PAU. “I think they all should work out on making immigration easier for students who go for their higher education. Secondly, there is also need to make visa regulations easy for those who want to visit Canada for tourism or for meeting friends and relatives. As of now, there is lot of paper work,” said JS Dhiman, additional director of research from PAU Talking to HT, denizens said these MPs should help make immigration and visa services for Canada as easy as possible.
Similarly, Rajiv Bakshi, a retired banker and an author said, “All the winning MPs should also visit Punjab on regular basis to connect with the people here as they will always have feedback to share for their family members settled in Canada.”
