Chandigarh : The Punjab Congress today criticised former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for his “derogatory” remarks against Punjab’s people after his party’s crushing defeat in the Assembly elections.

In a statement, Sukhbir compared the electorate to a “person who eats too much and then throws up”, hinting that the people did not value the works done by the SAD-BJP government.

A Congress spokesperson said that by demeaning the voters, the SAD leader had shown lack of respect for them.

“His disparaging remarks reflect the disdain with which the SAD leadership treated the common man, who has been pushed to the brink of desperation by the ‘anti-people’ policies of the Badal regime,” the spokesperson added.
