Mrs Gurdeep Kaur Kaka Councillor Ward No. 61 Dugri joins Congress - 22/04/2009

Mrs Gurdeep Kaur (Kaka)

Mrs Gurdeep Kaur is Councillor from Ward 61, Dugri, Ludhiana.  She has been Councillor since 2002 having won two successive terms.  Previously, from 1997-2002 her husband, Dharam Dev Singh (Kaka), was Councillor from the same Ward.

With 3 adult children and a lifetime resident of the area, Mrs Gurdeep Kaur has a deep involvement with the area and her desire to bring about it’s improvement.  Key projects she has worked on are sewerage, lights, roads, water, shagun schemes, pensions etc.

Mrs Gurdeep Kaur’s objectives are to introduce and old age home, a home for widowers, upgrading the government school, and to provide better employment opportunities for disaffected youth.

Mrs Gurdeep Kaur is joining the Congress because of deep disillusionment with the Akali’s.  Mrs Gurdeep Kaur says “only the immediate Badal family have a say.  Senior ministers, ministers, councilors and workers have no say.  This is no way to progress.”

Mrs Gurdeep Kaur went on to say “I had a heavy heart the day the Akali’s stood against Prime Minister Singh at the trust vote in July.  I do not wish to see Dr Singh unseated at these elections, hence am putting my support behind him and Congress and hope others will too.  I find the policies of Congress and Dr Manmohan Singh have more substance and also that I can better achieve the objectives of my Ward by working with them”.
