Congress leader accuses SAD men of attacking him in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: Workers of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) allegedly assaulted Congress leader and his friend following a verbal spat in Issewal village on Sunday morning.
Congress leader and member of village panchayat Gurjit Singh said he was about to enter his home with his friend Gulbagh Singh alias Gagna on Sunday morning when the accused came in a jeep and opened attack on them with sharp-edged weapons.
The accused fled the spot after leaving them badly injured. They were then rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). Condition of Gulbagh Singh has been stated critical.
Mullanpur Dakha police reached the spot and initiated investigation. Gurjit added that on Sunday morning, some children were playing badminton in the park when the SAD workers came there and started abusing them. Gurbagh Singh, who was jogging in the park, scolded the workers for it, following which the accused left.
After sometime, when he along with Gurbagh Singh was entering his house, the accused opened attack on them.Gurpreet Singh, SHO at Mullanpur police station said the police went to the hospital but the victims were not medically fit for recording statement. He added police will arrest the accused after recording their statement.
