Bathinda: New-born delivered by minor rape victim dies

BATHINDA: The baby boy, who was delivered by a minor girl at a private hospital in Bathinda has died. The post-mortem of the new born was conducted by a board of two doctors and the femur bone has been kept safely for carrying out DNA test. The stepfather of the girl who raped her and made her pregnant is still at large.
The father was raping his stepdaughter for quiet sometime and when she became pregnant, the father arranged for three women to carry out an illegal abortion at a clinic in Shakti Vihar area here. After this the abortion procedure began by a nurse but it could not be completed as the district administration officials got a tip off and raided the clinic where the abortion was taking place and the women were arrested. The girl was taken to Civil Hospital.
The girl had delivered a boy at the hospital. Seeing the condition of the new born, doctors had referred him to medical college in Faridkot but the family members of the boy took him to a private hospital in Bathinda where he died.
The man who raped the minor girl is yet to be arrested and the police have constituted a team for nabbing the accused after registering a case against him. The three women who were arrested for trying to carry out the illegal abortion have also been sent to the Central jail in Bathinda. They were sent on a day’s police remand before being sent to the jail.
