Patiala: Four get life term for raping 21-yr-old

PATIALA: Additional session judge Anshul Beri has sentenced four accused in a rape case to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 17,000 has been slapped on each one of them.
The accused were Kulwinder Singh, Amandeep Singh, Harinderjeet Singh and Narinder Singh. All the four are from Sular village.
According to the information given by the police, an unmarried 21-year-old girl from Urban Estate was kidnapped by the four men on August 21 in 2012. The four took the girl to a secluded place and raped her there.
The police on August 22 filed a case against the four for kidnapping, threatening and raping the girl based on the statement given by the girl.
A chargesheet related to this case was submitted in the court by the police in December 2012. After hearing the case for about two months, the police has now sentenced all the accused to life imprisonment and a fine.
In a similar case, additional session judge Sanjeev Beri has sentenced a man to seven years in prison and a fine of Rs 15,000 for raping a girl. Jasbir Singh from Tapa Mandi Barnala was given the punishment for raping a minor.
According to the information, a girl from a village near Patran had lodged a complaint against the accused with the police in Patran on July 24 last year. The girl was 15-years-old. The police had registered a case against Jasbir for kidnapping and raping the minor.
