Man booked in dowry case

Bassi Pathana : Bassi Pathana police booked Balwinder Singh, a resident of Bassi Pathana, for torturing his wife to get more dowry. The case was registered on the complaint of the woman’s mother Kuldeep Kaur, a resident of Raipur village. She said after the two got married on January 26, 2010, the accused and his parents soon started demanding more dowry.

Kuldeep said when her daughter expressed her inability to do so, they started harassing her and soon sent her back to their house.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Khamano, is conducting an enquiry into the case.

A case under Section 406, 498 A of the IPC has been registered against Balwinder Singh and his parents. No arrests have been made so far.
