CHANDIGARH: The three member team constituted by the SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar to enquire into the attack on Kahan Singh Pannu, Director General, Punjab School Education has submitted its report to the President

Makkar confirmed the receipt of the report. The SGPC team was headed by Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, General Secretary and comprises Roop Singh, Secretary and Nirmal Singh Jalao a member of the SGPC.

According to Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, they have found that attack on Pannu was unprovoked and religious sentiments were hurts when his turban was removed and his hair were also pulled. This was big jolt to the sikh sentiments.

Makkar said that he would forward this report to the state Government which has asked the Government to locate the culprits and punish them according to the law of the land.

He would also send the report to the jathedar of the akal takhat who after the identification of the culprits would pronounce the religious punishment for hurting the sikh sentiments.

Bhaur said that Pannu who had gone to Italy alongwith Dalmegh Singh secretary of the SGPC had refused to remove the turban when the airport authorities asked them to do so.

Meanwhile Sanjiv Kalra, IG (Security) who is heading the SIT setup for investigation into the attack on Pannu said that DIG Gautam Chema who was based at Rishikesh and Gurdwara Gobinddham in Uttrakhand has come back and he would submit his report today.

Only one person has been arrested in this case sofar-Panesar Baba who belongs to Ludhiana and has been in police custody at Mohali.
