Four booked for raping woman

Sangrur : The police has registered a case against four persons for allegedly raping a 30-year-old married woman.

Sources said the woman was reportedly staying in a rented accommodation at Dirba for the past several months after some dispute with her husband.

Station House Officer (SHO), Dirba police station, Subeg Singh said the case had been registered against Gurmail Singh, Kala, Bhinda and Jhanda Singh under Sections 376 and 34 of the IPC. He said the medical examination of the woman was conducted by a board of doctors at Civil Hospital, Sangrur, today.

The woman told the police that she was raped by Gurmail Singh, Kala, Bhinda and Jhanda Singh at Dirba yesterday.

The SHO said the woman got herself admitted to the Civil Hospital, Sangrur. “We got information about the incident from the hospital and we recorded her statement,” the SHO said.

The SHO said they were investigating the matter from all aspects as the accused persons were witness in a murder case.
