Chandigarh: A 1990-batch IAS officer Vijoy Kumar Singh is likely to be appointed new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab. The move follows a directive by the ECI to appoint a regular CEO in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Though a 1992-batch IAS officer Raminder Singh is presently working as Additional CEO ever since a 1979-batch IAS officer Kusumjit Sidhu had proceeded on Central deputation in April, 2013, the ECI has desired to assign some other bureaucrat with the responsibility on regular basis to conduct election process in the state, a top officer told Daily Post here, on Wednesday.
Vijoy had returned to his parent Punjab cadre after his Central deputation on January 13.
