Spokesperson of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Sukhpal Khaira today said while a CBI inquiry had been ordered into Union Minister Gopinath Munde’s death, no such step had been initiated to check the drug menace in Punjab.

Despite a huge public outcry, the Badal government had turned a blind eye to the burning issue of drug trafficking in which the name of Revenue Minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia had cropped up.

In a press note, Khaira said: “A CBI inquiry into Munde’s death was unnecessary. The government could have constituted a SIT to probe the accident to ascertain ulterior motive, if any”.
